Our Induction Heat Sealing (IHS) units are an efficient solution for customers. The straightforward process of IHS systems has numerous benefits to many industries. This non-invasive process helps to achieve a hermetic seal on the bottle with the cap closed and does not affect the contents. Induction sealing is extensively used for plastic and glass containers of varying sizes.
The IHS machine operates on the principle that a conductive material i.e., Al Foil, heats up when exposed to a high-frequency magnetic field, which is generated by an Induction Unit.
The container is filled and the cap (fitted with a foil liner) is applied. The capped container then passes under the induction cap sealer where a controlled electromagnetic field transfers energy to the foil in the cap, creating heat. This melts the sealing material on the foil liner. Once this sealant cools, the liner adheres to the neck of the container – this is known as a hermetic (airtight) seal.
There are numerous benefits to induction heat sealing, some of which include:
Leak protection
Induction seals can be used to prevent products from leaking. The technology used in induction sealing guarantees airtight sealing that can endure considerable pressure. This ensures the product will not leak during storage or transportation.
Increased productivity
Induction sealing technology is known for increasing productivity when compared to other sealing methods as they are able to work at high-speed.
Extended shelf life
Hermetic seals (airtight) prevent oxygen and moisture transmission into the product. Aiding preservations and extending shelf life and improving product freshness.
Tamper resistance / evidence
Induction sealing helps provide tamper evidence to consumers, as foils must be removed or destroyed in order to access the product. This is particularly important for the safety and satisfaction of the end-users. Thanks to an intact seal, the end-user knows the product has not been tampered with and can be sure of its authenticity.
All of these benefits make induction heat sealing a useful feature for products where contamination prevention is paramount, such as pasteurised milk, chemicals, medicines and pharmaceuticals.
