We’ve spoken quite a lot about conveyors belt systems – both single conveyors and the complete turnkey material handling systems kind. From our previous blogs, you know that we have over 25+ years of experience in doing what we do, which is delivering bespoke systems that are designed specifically to suit the make and flow of your shop floor. These bespoke conveyor belt systems are manufactured, supplied, and installed, by our team of experts across a wide range of industries which include Food and Drink, Pharma, Dairy, Confectionary, Plastic, Glass, Automotive, and Blow Moulding.
Our tailor-made conveyor belt system designs have changed the game for many years, but don’t just take our word for it. Hear from the many companies we have helped optimise their efficiency through our hand-picked case studies.
The industry – Dairy
The challenge – To automate the manual cheese–filling process to decrease the workforce needed on the line.
The solution – A novel cheese conveyor system
The products used – Belt conveyor systems
The previous process demanded multiple operators to assemble cheese hoop moulds, fill them, weigh them, and stack them for drying. Asmech’s solution involved two 3-metre-long belt conveyors and a filling station that reduced the necessary operators from four to two. The solution could handle both full and empty moulds and the filling station was equipped with integrated weighing capabilities.
The industry – Plastic
The challenge – After a recent expansion of the client’s storage facility, they were left with the need for additional conveyor systems to address the resulting operational issues.
The solution – A tailored belt conveyor system
The products used – Belt conveyor systems
The previous process in the plastic industry required multiple operators to manually handle plastic containers, which posed several challenges. This manual approach was not only time-consuming but also prone to errors and inconsistencies in handling. Operators had to manage the movement of containers from storage to downstream processes, such as unscrambling and orientation, before delivery to the filler. This reliance on manual labour increased the risk of production delays and hindered overall efficiency. Therefore, the implementation of a belt conveyor system by Asmech offered a significant improvement by automating these processes, reducing the need for manual intervention, and ensuring smoother operations in the plastic manufacturing facility.
The industry – Entertainment/Water Park
The challenge – To efficiently manage used rafts in a newly constructed £40 million water park, ensuring smooth operations and rider satisfaction.
The solution – A modular belt conveyor system
The products used – A bespoke lift system standing at an impressive height of 111.7m (about the length of a football field), and an inclined modular belt conveyor system to transfer disembarked rafts to the base of the lift.
A brand-new £40million water park relied on Asmech to deliver efficiency to their attractive water ride. They wanted a solution to transport used rafts from the water slide’s outfeed back to the top for reuse by the next rider. Asmech delivered this solution using a bespoke lift system, which could allow up to 5 rafts to be conveyed simultaneously through the lift.
A few efficiency-driven customisations included:
- The system’s ability to index each time a space became available downstream. This was facilitated to prevent rafts from accumulating excessively at the top of the lift.
- The use of 316 grade stainless steel instead of 304 grade stainless steel. Given its exposure to chlorine water, a significant portion of the structure was designed to withstand corrosion, particularly in the high-saline environment.
- To ensure safety during system servicing, the lift was also designed with access platforms and cat ladders on each module.
The industry – Food
The challenge – To transition from plastic to cardboard packaging trays for environmental sustainability, a leading food manufacturer faced difficulties in integrating the new trays into their existing conveyor system.
The solution – A bespoke conveyor belt system solution
The products used – Wire belt conveyor systems
When a leading food manufacturer faced difficulties with their current conveyor systems, they reached out to Asmech Systems Ltd. for help. While their move from plastic to cardboard trays was a socially responsible decision to make, the challenges posed by the new trays highlighted the need for a customised solution. Asmech’s expertise in designing and implementing conveyor systems tailored to specific requirements proved invaluable in overcoming these challenges. A slave-driven wire belt conveyor was integrated within the system to replace the previously dead plate setup, which allowed for a smoother transition of trays into the freezer.
The industry – Pharma
The challenge – Designing a system that efficiently handles products from a wrapper and tamper-proof machine, ensuring seamless delivery to a manual packing station for export.
The solution – A bespoke timing belt conveyor
The products used – Timing belt conveyor
Asmech Systems Ltd. delivered one of its most popular product designs for a long-term client in the pharmaceutical industry. As part of the project, Asmech implemented a timing belt conveyor system that could accept products from the wrapper and tamper-proof machine, facilitating smooth transfer to the manual packing station. This streamlined process allows operators to efficiently transfer the products into boxes for export.
Servo-driven motors were also considered as part of the solution as the introduction of gaps in the product line would mean more room for inspection, orientation, and formatting to meet specific requirements.
Hear from the General Manager of Mansfield Brick Co. Ltd, Dominic Delich, about their experience with us in the manufacturing and installation of a heavy-duty pallet conveyor belt system:
‘’From our first meeting Asmech Systems demonstrated their willingness to offer workable solutions to resolve our handling requirements.
As well as providing a competitive quotation, Asmech were selected because they had previously demonstrated their experience and handling capabilities on a similar project; and they could supply within the given time frame.
With our current pressures on production, we were only able to offer Asmech a short installation period. This turned out to be no problem at all, their engineers arrived on the Saturday morning before Christmas and the work was completed well within schedule.
The pallet conveyor system is very impressive and whilst being designed with the special requirements of the material building industry in mind, we have been advised that the heavy-duty construction will also offer long lasting performance with minimal maintenance.
We are extremely happy with the complete package Asmech offered and are pleased to say that our efficiencies since the line was commissioned have increased considerably. The conveyor has made a positive impact on service and productivity levels and represents very good value for money.
We are not only impressed with the quality and reliability of the system but with the way that the Asmech team worked closely with us to ensure that the project was delivered on time and without any disruption to our normal services. ‘’
